Character design • Illustration • Graphic Novel • Logo design
We had the opportunity of working with the Institute For The Future, a non-profit research organization based on San Francisco, to create an innovative mini series of stories told in a graphic novel style. This approach was particularly novel because of the weight of the subject matter, which was not done justice by remaining as words in a research paper. We used colourful illustrations to bring to life two scenarios, written by Sudanese, in response to the question ‘What would Sudan look like after 10 years of conflict? And what about 10 years of peace?’ We created characters in local dress and re-imagined the landscape and technology while maintaining cultural authenticity in our design decisions. Projects like these really show the power of visual storytelling in adding meaning to things that matter.
